a few Saturday mornings ago

first up .... this lovely french chest that I found at an estate sale
A great candidate for a make-over  - she is clean as a pin and in great shape
I just knew my bestie would probably love to add this piece to her french collection

I picked this up at my favorite antique store in Slayden, Mississippi
I can't decide if I should paint it or refinish it.  I think I like the dark wood

this would be easy to sand down and put a couple of coats of stain on it

for $1.00 - I couldn't resist

and a buck for these flip-flops ...  they have already served me well

more on that left foot soon... brace yourself ... the pics are ugly scary

good luck "sailing"  this Saturday!
I am posting this to Rhoda's Thrifty Treasures party - check it out and see what others are finding

  1. We scored this past weekend. I got some beautiful knobs that I have no idea what I will do with them but i loved them and couldn't resist especially since the lady was practically giving things away. However I have found some awesome stuff out by the dumpster! You should see this mirror that someone was just throwing away!! Nothing wrong with it and so much potential. I need to make a blog post about it. Ben thinks I'm crazy but it's almost like a high when I find something for free that I can just have. And yard sailing is my favorite thing to do on the weekend.

    1. Shauna, I know what you mean about the high, or excitement when I find something on the cheap - but curbside or dumpster diving is an whole new level of thrilling! I hope you blog about it. More later...

  2. Your foot is looking great. Have fun your last couple of free days.

  3. Love the dresser you found at the Estate Sale - so pretty!

  4. Great finds! :) Woo hoo for yard sale season!

  5. I have heard the Mississippi has the best 'junk' for the money...I may have to take a drive down there. Especially since I am addicted to those 1950s french bedroom suites!

  6. I am jealous of all the fabulous finds you southern gals find! I see a road trip once things cool down again. {Can you believe the forecast is 93 for NJ today? Too hot, too soon!} I especially like the table you are using as a night stand. I would leave the dark wood.

  7. I love yardsaling, too! I just found the cutest wooden crate and old clock shelf for a really good deal! I see those yard sale or estate sale signs and my heart starts racing!

  8. Omg I have one just like this ! Let me know if you decide paint it, send pics :)

  9. Omg I have one just like this ! Let me know if you decide paint it, send pics :)

  10. Hey Sweet Cousin: Haven’t told you lately but I love reading your Blog. You are so creative, funny and smart. Love to see your projects and pics, especially the family. Still want to have an outing with you. Love, Penny

I would love to hear from you
