I finally caved and bought some of Annie Sloan's chalk paint ...
I have not been disappointed
this color is "Versailles"
care for a glass of cran-grape juice?
I found this tea cart on Craigslist. Actually, I was going after a chandelier. When I got to the seller's address, I realized I was at a nursing home. When the maintenance man took me to the apartment used for storage, I spotted this tea cart. They wanted $40.... I offered $20, but didn't have cash for the chandelier and the tea cart .... I asked if I could write a check? the lady in charge said I could have the tea cart for $25.00 since I was writing a check. I sure didn't need it, but it sure is cute. As I was shoving it into the back seat of my car, I knew this piece was a good reason to invest in some chalk paint.
you like?
I also used clear and dark wax on it
it is parked on the back porch
I need to finish weaving the little red stool next
I think it looks so much better
should I paint the rocking chair to match?
If you have something to paint - this stuff is great
One coat, no sanding, no priming
Totally worth it!

ReplyDeleteGlenda, This project is right up my alley. I have been looking for a cart but do not like the finishes on any of the ones I have found. YOurs is just stunning! What great inspiration!

WOW, first of all I love it and I would leave the chair, it is such a great color. I would love to end up at an apartment in a nursing home...treasure trove!

Yup, that is a pretty cart! Guess what, I just discovered this Annie sloan chalk paint and wax and I love it too! Guess what else, I swear I have that same owl sitting on your cart. I found it at an estate sale in Denver.
ReplyDeleteCarolyn, I miss you! Do you light your owl at night and howl at the moon??? If so, that makes 3 things we do just a like! I am about to go to Virginia..... wish you were meeting us there.
ReplyDeleteI love that you are 'weaving' the stool! So cute! I like the different colors together. You could find something with a pattern that combines the colors.
ReplyDeleteI just bought my very first can of ASCP and clear wax...haven't tried anything yet as I have to get some decent brushes. Your cart is stunning! I hope my ventures turn out as nice at that!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great. I would love for you to stop by My Dream Canvas. Take care Anu

Super, Super cute Glenda! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the color of your rocker as is but honestly what do I know? You should probably paint it to match now that I think about it..... take the opposite of my decorating advice and you ought to be pretty well off ;) are those leetle hugs and keeses i see down there? OH and your tea cart looks bedy bedy good :)
ReplyDeleteSo I went to home depot to find that paint and they didn't have it. Is this a specialty paint that I can only buy online? I have a table with chairs and an entertainment stand thing that are all is good condition except that they are horribly dated because of the plain wood color. I hate them and the plan as always been to fix them up but I haven't had time (and money yet but getting closer to that time) to fix them up. The problem is I live in an apartment complex area and can't sand them anywhere. Then I heard about this stuff that takes off the finish without sanding (more rub it on and clean it off and the finish is gone) but this paint sounds much easier. So where do I get it?
ReplyDeleteLovely how it turned out! Great new colour. Well done!
ReplyDeletei love what you did with the cart. i'm looking forward to seeing all your treasures in person.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED this tea trolley!!!
ReplyDeleteI bought one for $60 and it was still a BIG SCORE!!!
I saw one at a "fancy" store for $430????
UUUHHH???
Now I am afraid to paint mine...
